It's the most wonderful time, it's the hap-happiest season of all!
The time just seems to be flying by faster and faster. We mistakingly thought that when our kids got older we'd have more time. But the opposite seems to be true. We have LESS time, and MORE people we want to spend it with! Now having six grandchildren, we find it more and more difficult to get in the time we want to spend with our kids and grandkids.
We also love traveling, I'm sure that's no surprise. We knew when we bought our house that we wanted a smaller, cozier home, allowing us to get out there and see the world. It's funny because, when we bought our home almost 17 years ago, we hadn't even traveled yet, other than San Diego to see family and the occasional walk across the border to TJ to buy some cheap silver jewelry. But I guess even then we knew we wanted to see more. Our first official "trip" was to Riviera Maya for our 10th anniversary in 2003, I was pregnant with Laura and cried when we got there because I felt like we'd wasted money! :-) We've come a long way and travelled far since then! Our next trip is Jenna's "adult" trip. What started out as a plan to have some time with just Lucy on her way to Sudan, became a trip with John and I and one kid at a time. Lucy ended up married shortly after our trip to Ireland and Germany so we called it a "you're getting married" trip. But after doing it that way for Leah and Jessi, we decided an "adult" trip with Mom and Dad was much more timely, and cost efficient, not coupled with wedding planning. So, our trip with Jenna will commence January 4th. We're still planning the specifics, but we know it will include Iceland, Norway, maybe Denmark, Sweden and Poland, and finish up at our friends, The Martin's, in Bulgaria. I'm so thankful for all that the Lord has done this year. Growing my faith and trust in Him as we navigate life. The boys and girls are even now, three grandsons and three granddaughters. The last two being magically born at home with Sena, our midwife with our Colorado born kids! It's amazing to me just how much a heart can grow with love, SIX grandkids, it's just mind blowing!
We continue to serve at church in worship and once a month watching, mostly our grandkids, for the Roots ministry Sunday nights.
I pray that you can take time this Christmas to reflect on who we're celebrating, and spend some time dwelling on what we can be Thankful for. Make the best of what you have and who you have it with, life can change in just a moment.
Merry Christmas!
