Driving through Germany

On the way to Anna and Christian's house, there was an accident.  So, we sat at a dead stop on the freeway, for about an hour.  This was my view when I wasn't napping.

 John was very happy driving on the Autobahn.

 These are a common sight driving through Germany.

 I don't know what to think of the emergency vest that came with our rental car.  

Is it a sign of frequent problems?
